We spent the first weekend of our summer vacation in the fruit capital of Norway.
Hardanger, a region just south of us and just east of Bergen, encapsulates everything beautiful, charming, and addictive about Norway. Apple, pear, plum, and cherry orchards are planted tightly along the fjordside and as your drive your car along the swinging, bumpy roads in late July, you find yourself in the midst of a Morello cherry-lovers dream.
Self-serve stands. "30 kroner. Betal i boksen, takk" (please pay in the box, thanks)
The definition of "farm to table", only this was more like "farm to mouth"
Some stands were better constructed than others. Bachelor farmers?
Ice-capped mountains in the peak of summer
Selling patriotism and raspberries too
A special thanks to my extremely accommodating driver
