A little brown package arrived in the mailbox yesterday.
A gift from a fellow "I married a Norwegian, so now I live in Norway" blogger named Lisa. Lisa's British. She's also funny and takes great photos and holds the exact same positive-pessimism for Norway and all things Norwegian that I hold. As it turns out, in addition to both hating Norwegian grocery stores and prices, we share a love of Scandinavian design and vintage ceramic (although I think it's pretty obvious that Lisa's collection far exceeds mine, the lucky devil!) We also both love baking cookies and eating said cookies and taking photos of mundane things around our homes. I think we'd make really good neighbors if we didn't live 450 kilometers and a large mountain range away from one another.
Lisa sent me some nice things that she picked up over her weekend. While I was sitting inside with Lasse, hiding from the rain and listening to Bob Marley on repeat, Lisa was cruising the first of the Oslo flea markets and the discount shops across the Swedish border. I knew she'd be picking up some great finds, but what I didn't know is that she'd be picking up some great finds for me!
I am now the proud owner of a Höganäs Keramik Pick Up and a little vintage laced tablecloth (guessing from the 60s???) The Pick Up has already been put to good use during today's mid afternoon snack and coffee break. Just wait until the Pick Up can come along when Lasse and I start are having our snacks out in the garden!
And so this is where I thank Lisa and pretend like I'm not already collecting things in my head to send her as a thank you in return (after all, I do have your address now too!) Thank you Lisa!!! You are yet another reason why blogging isn't just for nerds and narcissists. Blogging is for meeting new people and gaining new friends too. Here's a nice little piece about this very topic, written better than I could have written in myself.

Oh my! I love the idea behind the Pick Up.

Well, I must say I'm very impressed with the speed of the norwegian postal service! Veldig bra!
Siri, I am so pleased you like your little gifts. I thinks it's really important that us "married to norskmen" bloggers stick together!
Lovely pictures too!!
