In the form of...Blueberries!
I feel as though I've been in a bit of a culinary slump.Very little new has been coming out of the kitchen lately and I have a hunch it has something to do with the baby. In this last month of pregnancy, all I've been wanting to eat is what's familiar. Unfortunately, what's familiar is a) not particularly healthy, and b) not particularly new and exciting to most of you. As a result, my diet has consisted largely of midnight milkshakes, big bowls of chili, and sourdough toast smothered with butter and marmelade.
With the exception of this lady and this lady living in more "tropical" parts of the globe, I know that most of you are getting that dead-of-winter itch. You know what I'm talking about. "The Cold Day Crazies", where you're torn between going outside and catching 5 minutes of good old fashioned sunlight and staying inside where you're safe from frostbite.
Then just tonight it hit me- the urge to sneak back into the long and warm days of summer. The urge to taste something sun-ripened, something sweet, something juicy, something hand-picked. Blueberries.
It was as easy as opening up the freezer and lugging out our 8 lbs. sour cream container (yea, Norwegians love their sour cream) stopped full of wild blueberries from a berry picking extravaganza this past August. A trip into the mountains full of low-growing heather bushes, miniature frogs, and more ripe blueberries than our buckets or bellies could find room for.
And just like that, this cold, dark, slumber of winter became a little bit more tolerable.
*Despite the fact that I could be resourceful and spend these next few days making blueberry milkshakes, chili, and toast, I've got some other recipes in store for you. Some goodies. So stay tuned for those, and in the meantime, take a short trip back to this summer on the mountain and the birthplace of all those fantastic wild blueberres.

Wonderful photos!
I'm already planning berry picking for summer. There's a forest 15mins walk from our flat, where I picked alot of berries.
Looking forward your ideas, I'm also looking for things to do with my frozen blueberries.

Yummy yummy! What I would give to be shoveling a sidewalk somewhere! I did bring some dried BBs and Craisins with me so far they have only ventured into oatmeal, but I rigged up a dutch oven the other day and got some decent brownies. I smell BB muffins in my future!
