Although it
can’t hold a candle to the very fickle weather of Minnesota, the west coast
Norwegian winters are most definitely unpredictable, long, and more often than
not, dark. Just in the past 48 hours, we’ve had snow, sleet, rain, and
sunshine. It’s days like these that you need a decent recipe to help you look
forward to the summer to come.
But hold your horses. You’ll have to wait another few days before you get another blueberry recipe out of me. Instead, I thought it might be nice to do a little post on what other cooks and bakers are whipping up with blueberries in their kitchens. These are food bloggers that I read on a regular basis (some of which have even become my Facebook “friend”). And we all know what happens when you become Facebook friends with someone. No, I guess I don’t either.
- First up is
a Blueberry Honey Butter recipe all the way from Sydney, Australia. A clever
blog, a clever girl, a clever recipe to have on hand when you happen to have
some lemon poppy seed bread. From Feasting-On-Art.
- Alaska knows it’s wild berries almost as good as Norway. Since she’s got a whole heep of them, it was too hard to choose just one of Molly’s blueberry recipes, so here are two: Summatime in a Pie Plate (Blueberry Pie) and for de-stressing on a Friday afternoon, Blueberry Ginger Mojito.
- Blueberries in Seattle. Not that she needs a larger fan base, but I’ve made several Orangette recipes over the past few months and they’ve all been A+ Quality, so there’s no reason to doubt how good this one is too; Buckwheat Bundt Cake with Blueberries. And nobody loves a good bundt like a Minnesotan girl.
- I don’t know a lot about the good state of Georgia, but I do know that bakers from the deep south are my kind of people. They make simple, no-nonsense, and down-home food. Here’s a recipe for Blueberry Cobblar from Honey & Jam. I can only dream of taking photos as pretty as this teenager.
- Good blueberries are attainable in the Highlands of Scotland too. Here’s something a bit out of the ordinary, Blueberry Soup from A Wee Bit of Cooking. A great blog for dog, rolling countryside hill, and gardening enthusiasts alike.
- Although I consider myself to be a fairly clean person, sometimes a dropped scrap of food is just too good to be tossed into the garbage. That’s when The 5 Second Rule comes into play- something my husband is still coming to terms with. Blueberry Lemon Crepes. From the Silicon Valley!?!?!?
- And lastly, my friends, I give you a nice little French Blueberry Tart from Tallin. I feel a special kinship to this recipe because not only have I been to Tallin- Estonia is very underated, by the way, but I’m also a little bit of a tart myself. Ok, not really. From the blog, nami-nami.
